4877+4867+48107 on a down train climbing out of Baan Baa16 viewsIt was about 12:42 and I was heading south from Narrabri on the road to Gunnedah, north of Baan Baa where the railway line parallels the highway. There are a few rows of cypress pines between the railway and road but I saw it! In the distance was the tell-tale of twin sealed-beam headlights coming my way.
I found a farm crossing and waited. And waited. Man this was a straight stretch! At 12:48 4877+4867+48107 came powering up the grade with a train for points north.

3 48 class diesels lead the down Emu Gravel-bound train across the Nepean River Bridge, Penrith, on 15/08/915 viewsThese aren't great shots but are my only photographic record of this train. I spent hours once staking out the junction to no avail!
My records reflect that the leading 2 locos were in the candy scheme while the other was erroneously reported as 'tuscan' (in truth, Indian Red).
The time was between 14:30 and 15:30; it returned at 16:30.
