Are you sick of inane reports from moi about BB87/88 yet? I'll try to be brief and linguistically accurate this time!
Firstly apologies for the confusion I created last night about where 48110 was hanging around... it was loco #3 in the 1835 Westons consist of 8050+8004+48110. My mobile device wording could have been interpreted as placing 48110 anywhere on any train I reported last night! Poor little loco.
Now for this arvo's/tonight's activity. I was in a meeting this arvo but I was rung at 15:54 and 16:28 for BB87's arrival and departure times from Lithgow. Unlike yesterday where all 6 locos detatched, drew forward and the last two in the consist (12 and 20) ran back into loco while the remainder set back to the train, today the first two locos came off... which were 12 and 20 again, so there had been a remarshall somewhere. I'm going from the relief crew before the consist arrived, I didn't see this in person, so it may not have turned out this way.
BB88 passed Bowenfels at 22:31 with a raucous greeting for the little blue Toyota Echo with 3801 plates waiting at the boom gates... the train drifted into Lithgow Yard (on the main line) at 22:40. With the locos level with loco, the train halted and the crew changed. The end of the train was situated halfway between the old Eskbank loco and the old Eskbank station. The rear 82s (12 and 20) then drew down to the crossover beyond the platform at Lithgow station. While they crossed over and headed towards the train, the lead locos drew the train forward to the base of the 1:40 grade (or even part-way up it), well past B-frame and the end of Lithgow yard. This brought us up to 22:46. While coupling the rear 82s and doing the continuity, 8145 arrived at 22:53 on the down main and ran into the yard with an empty sleeper train. It stabled. BB88 started moving at 22:56.
