I love the NIV. I grew up with it. I temporarily abandoned it when the ESV came out with all of its carrying-on about literal translation. Then I learned about translation and returned to the NIV. But it is old, despite being called "New". Perhaps a little too American, despite being called "International" and it is a translation, despite being called a "Version".

I was delighted to read last night that the NIV is being revised--incorporating good innovations from the disastrous TNIV of a few years back (TNIV, by the way, is excellent, but was a marketing disaster because of some battles waged by the ESV gang).
