A lot of people think I'm starting to look like Daddy. What do you think?

Everyone who sees me used to say I was a dead ringer for my mum.

But now they all say I look like daddy.

What do you say?

Here are the photos of my Canberra visit!

Hello friends,

Well there hasn't been much to report lately. I turned one month old on Wednesday, that was exciting. I have been busy growing - which entails eating lots and the corresponding waste services - and I'm staying awake for longer.

BJ the cat still keeps his distance.

Even though I'm way too many months too young to crawl I managed three times today when lying on daddy's tummy to move from his belly button to up over his shoulder. That was fun. I think his belly gave me a bit of a down-hill advantage there, but don't tell him that because he thinks I'm so clever to move like that.

Anyway, here are some photos daddy took when we went to Canberra last week to see my great grandparents, Nan and Pop Selmes.

It's about three hours from our place to Canberra in the car, so I asked mummy and daddy to stop so I could have some food. Here I am telling mummy about the exciting things I saw from the baby capsule.

As I said in my last blog, Nan and Pop Selmes were playing bingo when we got there, so we just had to wait until they'd cleaned up all the prizes.

Pop had a little cuddle or two of me. Here he is telling Nan all about me, and I'm trying to tell him all about me too!

Nan and Pop were soooo excited to see me! I thought it was pretty cool too. Here is Nan Selmes having a little cuddle. She was so delighted. I didn't muck up or anything. (Much - daddy).

When Pop gave me back to mummy, he got out his special photo album (which has four pictures of me in it now! :-) ), and showed daddy all of the pictures. Daddy was very interested because he likes history, and also because his grandparents haven't been around for many years.

On the way home, daddy saw a big wheat train at Robertson and saw the level-crossing lights at a side street which indicated it was probably on its way down the spectacular escarpment railway. So he stopped to take some pictures. But he was disappointed. He forgot to set the camera up properly and the engines came down the hill alone - no train! Here is the best of the bad shots he got. I guess this is my first time "train spotting"! Well, the first time outside mummy's tummy!

There's not much else to report. Yesterday mummy went to the dentist for some special work and while the dentist was busy, I was popular with all the nurses. Daddy grew up with the dentist and so he got to come in with me to the surgery. But once he had rocked me to sleep the nurses from the other rooms stole me. Daddy even said to mummy, "Hey let's go before she notices" but mummy says he was only joking and he'd never leave me behind.

I guess they were all very nice to me, though, so I might have been ok.

That's all for now,

Love Zoë

I haven't forgotten to BLOG!

Hi all,

I've been a bit unsettled of late, and daddy has been busy with work.

When I calm down a bit I'll blog - there's a little bit to talk about, because I went to Canberra with mummy and daddy on Friday to visit my great-grandparents. We didn't tell them we were coming - we wanted to surprise them.

Well, they were surprised! But we interrupted their bingo, so mummy and daddy took me for a walk for about an hour while bingo finished. But they were delighted to meet me and I was pretty happy to see them too!

I'll put photos on the blog soon!

Love,

Zoë

A bishop and a Princess of the Night!

No, the title of this post is not naughty. You'll have to read to the end to find what it's all about.

Sometimes I get bathed, sometimes I get a shower with daddy. That's something the midwives at the hospital recommended, although daddy says he's always scared of dropping me, and makes sure mummy is close on hand to help if I get a bit slippery!

I love having my hair washed in the shower, and to feel the water on my back and on my head. I hate it in the bath!

Mummy took this photo while daddy was drying me off after my shower with him.

This is a princess of the night! This is the bud that came out on Friday night.

And this is Thursday night's flower. The flower only comes out occasionally. This particular plant was given to mummy and daddy as a wedding gift and this is the first time it's flowered!

By morning this flower was dead, but there was a big bud ready for Friday night (see above!).

This is Friday night's flower in full bloom.

Well, today I went to Wollongong shops with mummy and daddy. Everyone loves to admire me, especially the ladies in the shops we went into. They also took me to see the bishop's secretary (mummy used to work with her) and the bishop and his wife was there. So they were all very excited. We also dropped in to the St Michael's cathedral office to see Mr and Mrs Grant and Mr Windsor, who are friends of mummy's and daddy's from when they worked at Kurrajong together.

Bye for now!

Zoë.

Another poem - or part of one

Uncle Russell is really into family history stuff, and he's used all of his research to write a really big poem. He just added part 14 - the bit about me.

Here 'tis:

Part Forever 14– Zoe Nicole Elissa Farrell

Love grows in many ways

Particularly down in the ‘harbour

And after some months and many days

We can see the fruits of their labour

With time running out for the obvious bubble

Rumours growing each day

Put them out of their misery Team

Are you in the family way ?

The announcement is made, a baby is due

A cousin younger than Lizzie ?

The Farrell clan is growing again

Hey, Coastal Rev has been busy.

Interest is high, the new Rev and his wife

A part of the family are they

The Guild is a gossip, advice very free

And for the pending event we all pray

On a cool January day, the moment is nigh

In a hospital at Figtree all’s ready

Without too much fuss she enters the world

Young Zoe Nicole, her parents all giddy.

What a beautiful child, round face content

Her daddy sings massaged Zoe songs

While mummy looks on pleased with her work

Taking the earned rest that she longs

The days fade away as visitors come

The babe is a popular child

‘Till finally she comes home to a room of her own

For young Zoe, it is uniquely styled.
